Workshop: Exploring the Next Steps with Your Aging Wood Floor
A 100-year-old Douglas-fir floor shows signs of wear. This floor was refinished 25 years ago and now the owner wonders if it can be refinished, or or if the time has come to replace it.
If you have a sneaking suspicion that your home’s floor is coming to the end of its life, there can be many angst filled questions when it comes to possibly saying goodbye to that beloved wood floor. Many people feel deeply connected to their beautiful older homes with their wood floors, and want to seem them continue to survive and serve future generations.
But, if your home was built in the 1920’s, or before, you may be coming to the end of what is known as the wear layer. Or maybe there is one more opportunity to sand and refinish. Perhaps you have a Mid-Century Modern home where the veneer layer has sadly worn through.
This March, Ben Deumling is teaming up with local flooring experts to offer two free workshops designed to help homeowners demystify the process of determining if your floor needs to be refinished or replaced with two free upcoming workshops.
Participants will learn what is involved in each process, as well as various factors that can affect long-term durability if they need to move forward with a new floor.
We look forward to partnering with you to honor one of your home’s most beautiful, valuable and hardworking assets.
