Which Vent to Get

We make three styles of vents: Flush Mount with Frame; Flush Mount, No Frame and Retro style. Not sure which to choose? You’re in the right place. Here are the three styles with the details to consider.

Flush Mount with Frame

This vent works best when installed alongside new hardwood flooring. It can be cut into existing flooring, but this is a tricky process best left to a professional. If installed properly, the frame will rest on the subfloor and will then support the removable insert.

Flush Mount, No Frame

Order this style if replacing an existing flush mount vent. Note that this style doesn’t come with the stair step cut (also known as a rabbet) around the bottom. If you need this cut, get in touch and we will get all the details needed to make sure it fits nicely. Like Flush Mount with Frame, this style can be cut into existing flooring with some skilled cutting. In either case, the vent needs to rest on either the subfloor or on something within the duct itself.

Retro Style

This is the simplest to install. It simply rests on the floor surrounding your duct. It will stand proud of the floor by roughly 3/8”. We ease the transition with rounded edges on all four sides.
