Selling Logs
**** 2021 Ice Storm Update ****
We completely understand and share your sense of loss when these trees come down in a storm. Oak trees, especially large old ones, are very special trees. The core of our mission is to find the highest and best use for these trees by turning them into high-quality and long-lasting wood products.
We are, however, completely overwhelmed with the scale of this storm, and therefore can only buy a small subset of the logs that came down. We are dealing with literally thousands of trees of our own that came down in the Zena Forest and have a monumental amount of work ahead of us. Therefore we do not have time to come out and look at your trees.
Zena is currently ONLY buying logs that meet our enhanced criteria:

Additionally:
We are only buying Oregon white oak logs
There can be NO sign of metal or foreign objects. This means no blue or black stain showing on either end of the log and nothing sticking out of the log.
Logs must be at least 6’6” long. Preferred lengths are 8’6”.
Logs must have a minimum diameter on the small end inside the bark of 24”
Logs must be PERFECTLY straight in each 6’ or 8’ section
3 of the 4 faces of the log must be CLEAR with no knots, holes or other defects.
The 4th face can have defects.
Logs need to be delivered to 4550 Oak Grove Rd. Rickreall, OR 97371.
No log deliveries without an appointment.
All log sales must be pre-approved
Logs delivered that don’t match these criteria will be politely declined.
If you are still unsure if your tree meets these criteria, please email a couple pictures with diameter measurements to “ben@zenaforest.com”. Note that we are dealing with many inquiries and may take some time to get back to you.
For logs that meet these criteria, we are happy to buy them. We pay $825/mbf on the scribner scale. See our homeowner cheat sheet on our website for information on how to scale a log. For reference, below are ballpark prices for some selected log sizes.
